Music Ministry

Welcome to the Music and Fine Arts department of Blair Road United Methodist Church. Here you will find many exciting opportunities to worship God through vocal music, instrumental music, drama, and sound. We hope that if you are looking for a new church home, you will find a place in one of our ensembles. We welcome newcomers to our Fine Arts department! Hopefully, you will use your artistic talents and gifts to strengthen your walk with Christ!

Chancel Choir

The Chancel Choir is open to any adult who wants to sing! There is no audition, but there may be a vocal assessment to determine your vocal range. The Chancel Choir leads the 8:45 am Traditional Worship Service on Sunday mornings. Rehearsals for the Chancel Choir are on Wednesday nights from 7:30-9:00 pm. Rebecca Cray leads this choir.

Praise Band

This ensemble is by audition only. The Praise Band leads the 11:00 am CROSSPOINT Praise and Worship service. The band consists of 1 drummer, 1 bass guitar, 2 guitars, 2 keyboards, and various lead vocalists. The Praise Band performs praise music and encourages the congregation to actively participate in the service. This group rehearses on Sunday nights from 7:00-9:00 pm. Patrick Cray leads this group.

Sound and Lighting Ministry

Blair Road UMC strives to provide an environment that will allow God's word to be effectively communicated and engaging. The sound and lighting crew work to enhance the quality of worship by providing services in these areas. Volunteers with and without experience are needed; training period is provided. Patrick Cray oversees this group.

Jr./Sr. High Handbell Choir

The Jr./Sr. Handbell Choir is for middle school and high school students with limited to more advanced reading skills. Beginning ringers are encouraged to attend, and are trained, while more advanced ringers are given harder positions. This choir meets on Wednesday afternoon from 5:15-6:00 pm. Rebecca Cray directs this group.

Adult Handbell Choir

The Adult Handbell Choir at Blair Road UMC rings in worship services several times throughout the year. This group reads music and is more advanced. The Adult Handbell Choir rehearses on Wednesday evenings from 6:30-7:20 pm. Rebecca Cray directs this group.
