SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT - RETURN TO FELLOWSHIP

October 22, 2020

Greetings Blair Road UMC Faith Family!

The Return To Fellowship Team in consultation with church leaders, public health officials and our WNCC leadership invites us to return to indoor worship beginning Sunday November 8. (Drive-in services will happen on October 25th and November 1st)

We will resume worshipping at our 8:45 AM traditional service in the Sanctuary and our 11:11 AM praise service in the Family Life Center (FLC).

We will wear masks, social distance and avoid physical contact (socialize outside, please).

The length of each worship service will be shorter than usual and our ushers will seat families, couples and individuals to ensure safety for everyone. For now, please understand that we will not engage in corporate singing and speaking. Music and worship leaders will guide us through our worship time together.

We understand that each person and family will make decisions that best fit their comfort levels with safety, health and hygiene. Some may choose to wait until a later time to worship in-person. That is perfectly acceptable! While we will discontinue our drive-in services beginning Nov. 8, we will continue to offer our on-line service and sermon by phone each week.

For the time being, small group meetings indoors may be scheduled with Lynn Smith. Times will be available outside of Sundays with the understanding that everyone will follow all COVID safety protocols.

By noon Wednesday of each week beginning with November 4, please call the church (704) 545-6785 or send an email johnsielittlefield@blairroadumc.org to let us know which service you plan to attend and how many will attend from your family.

With limited seating in each service, your responses will help us ensure the best possible experience for everyone!

Of course, we will continue to closely monitor COVID conditions in Mecklenburg County, surrounding counties, North Carolina and beyond. Should conditions warrant, we reserve the right to change our plans as needed to ensure health and safety for all concerned.

Thank you,

The Return To Fellowship Team

COMFORT CARDS

This is a particularly tough time for folks living in nursing and rehab facilities.  They haven’t been able to see family or friends for 5 months!  In most cases they are not able to socialize with fellow residents because they are quarantined to their room.

Wouldn’t it be great to give them a little pick me up every week in the form of an uplifting card?  If you would like to be a part of this ministry please do the following:

  1. Make or buy cards (don’t forget to get some that are male appropriate).  Include an uplifting verse and an uplifting message.  It doesn’t need to be long. Include all the members of your family in this activity.  Include pictures if you are comfortable.  Include your pets if you don’t want to send family pictures.

  2. Drop them off in the wooden box located outside the Sanctuary or bring them to Drive-In church on Sunday mornings.

We will drop them off at our area nursing facilities.                      Lynn Smith

We can do Halloween Safely & FUN!

Join us on Wednesday or Thursday for a new twist on a fun event.  Our trunks will be decorated, we’ll have lots of candy,  and a great photo booth will be set up.  All this fun and you will not leave your car!  Drive through and see the trunks, get your candy (handed out safely), and get your picture taken (with your camera).  We are really excited that we can continue the tradition for our community so we hope you will come and enjoy!  Would you like to do a trunk?  Let Lynn Smith know by calling 704-517-1923 or email lynnsmith@blairroadumc.org.  We do request that you wear a mask so that everyone remains safe!

Inclement weather notification plan

We will post any cancellation due to inclement weather on our website, social media and by phone message at (704) 545-6785 no later than 7:00 AM on Sunday morning. This will be our plan as long as we have outdoor services. Of course, we will continue to offer our pre-recorded worship video each Sunday.
